ACCOUNTING

Diane E. Wittenberg joined the audit and business advisory services group of Haskell & White LLP of Irvine as a senior manager. Wittenberg previously worked at Arthur Andersen LLP, where she was part of the firm’s audit and business advisory practice. She had been with Andersen since 1985 and worked out of the now-defunct firm’s Irvine office, specializing in in real estate, financial services and manufacturing clients.

ARCHITECTURE

Designer Arlette Cummings of architectural and planning company KTGY Group Inc. of Irvine was appointed to the Home Builders Council board of directors for the membership committee. She will work on membership goals and be involved in other council committees.

CONSTRUCTION

Roel Construction Co. of Irvine hired Cynthia Foster as project coordinator for its tenant improvement and special projects group. She recently worked for Kajima Construct-ion Co.

Builder and developer Snyder Langston of Irvine hired Frank Martinez as its vice president of business development. Martinez will manage the company’s strategic planning, marketing and public relations with an emphasis on planning, finance and construction management.

HOSPITALITY

Ray Kovacs will be the 2003 Commodore of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Corona del Mar. He has been a member of the club for 19 years and a member of the board for five years. He will implement the club’s strategic plan, enhance membership growth and expand involvement in international yachting. Kovacs was a director to the Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

LAW

Levin & Hawes of Laguna Beach added Craig McLaughlin to its legal team. McLaughlin focuses on prosecution and litigation of patent and trademark matters involving mechanical, chemical and biomedical technologies. He earned his law degree at Whittier Law School in 1995.

National labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP elected Irvine associate John E. Lattin IV to partner. He has represented companies in discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination and unfair competition litigation. Lattin received his law degree in 1993 from the McGeorge School of Law.

Law firm Snell & Wilmer acquired Irvine-based IP law firm Price & Gess LLP. As a result, Snell & Wilmer adds Joseph W. Price Jr. and Albin H. Gess to its intellectual property practice. Gess received his law degree from Washington College. Price is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center.

MARKETING

InterCommunicationsInc hired Kay Matsumoto director of technology services. His responsibilities include Web architecture and design, e-mail marketing campaigns and managing application of InterCom’s proprietary software and services. Matsumoto was a founding partner and engineer at Irvine-based Infotec Solutions Inc.

MEDICAL

Dr. Peter Scheid joined the Huntington Beach Community Clinic. Scheid graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1998. His specialty is family medicine. Huntington Beach Community Clinic is one of three health providers of the newly formed Community Care Health Centers, a nonprofit organization.

NONPROFITS

Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana named Mike Fuhr director of corporate relations. He will expand the center’s corporate partnership initiatives, which include sponsorships, corporate giving and in-kind donations. Prior to joining Discovery, Fuhr spent three years as director of corporate and foundation relations at the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.

SPORTS

The Anaheim Angels appointed Jennifer Carnahan sponsorship services manager. She is a graduate of Syracuse University and has worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Timberwolves. Paul LaFerla was named Angels’ advertising sales manager. He had been an account executive in the sales and marketing department for three years.

TECHNOLOGY

Steven Farlow joined Pacific Designs Ltd. as a senior sales manager for the company’s Western region, based out of OC. He previously was a regional sales manager for Vidcon Solutions Group. Pacific Designs creates and makes accessories and carrying cases for portable computers and other mobile gear.
