The Irvine office of KPMG LLP promoted Eric Condie, Brent Hansen, Liezl Sangalang and Jeremy Wheeler to senior managers in audit practice. All four previously served as managers.
AEROSPACE
Louis Laroche was appointed chief operating officer of ThalesRaytheonSystems Co.’s U.S. operations. Laroche, who will be based in Fullerton, has been with ThalesRaytheon-Systems for about 30 years and most recently was the chief financial officer of the company, which is a venture of Massachusetts-based Raytheon Co. and France’s Thales SA.
ARCHITECTURE
Harris and Associates Inc. promoted Joan Cox to manager of financial engineering and hired Gary Moriarty as manager of marketing and business development in its Irvine offices.
AUTOMOTIVE
Kazue Sasaki was appointed president of Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing Inc. and president of Toyota Industries North America Inc. In his position, Sasaki will serve as director of the board for Irvine-based Toyota Material Handling U.S.A. Inc., a seller of forklifts and other industrial vehicles.
BANKING
Peter Bastone joined the board of Tustin-based Sunwest Bank. He has been the president and chief executive of Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center since 1996.
Irvine-based Plaza Bank hired Robert Llorens as chief credit officer. His responsibilities will include monitoring commercial and retail credit risk and the enforcement of process and policies for all loan portfolios.
EDUCATION
The Advanced Technology and Education Park in Tustin hired Bruce Sobczak as director of the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies. The education park is the newest campus of the South Orange County Com-munity College District and focuses on technology programs.
ENGINEERING
ICF International Inc. promoted Charles Smith to regional leader for Southern California operations. Smith previously worked as the Irvine branch leader for the environmental consulting company, which specializes in planning, infrastructure, transportation, energy and climate change.
LAW
Kathleen Marcus joined Newport Beach-based Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth as counsel in the firm’s litigation department. Marcus previously served as a senior counsel with the Securities and Exchange Commis-sion’s Division of En-forcement and, more recently, taught classes in SEC enforcement at the University of Notre Dame Law School.
Dorsey & Whitney LLP added Joel O’Malley to its Orange County labor and employment group in Irvine. O’Malley comes from the firm’s Min-neapolis office and specializes in employment litigation, including labor arbitrations and advice.
NONPROFIT
Kathy Simon Abels was appointed executive director of the Simon Family Foundation. Abels, who is the daughter of the Newport Beach-based nonprofit’s founder, Ronald Simon, has been involved with the foundation since 2003. The foundation specializes in college preparatory programs for disadvantaged high school students throughout the country.
REAL ESTATE
Irvine-based Thomas National Properties LLC hired Lisa Jack as corporate controller. She will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial activities. Previously, Jack was chief financial officer of the Southern California division of Capital Pacific Homes, a unit of Newport Beach-based Capital Pacific Holdings Inc.
Newport Beach-based KBS Realty Advisors LLC hired Monica Brock as director of finance and Robert Nguyen as operations manager in its KBS Capital Markets Group unit. Brock previously spent 14 years at Los Angeles-based Capital Group Cos., where she held multiple positions. Nguyen joins KBS from Royal Bank of Canada, where he was operations manager for six California offices.
Moote Group promoted Jeff Powers to director of dry utilities for the company’s utility resource network/applicant design specialists division. He previously was utility resource network project manager for the Santa Ana-based company. In his position, Powers will manage dry utilities for governments and commercial and residential developers.
Emmes Group of Cos. hired Brian Harnetiaux as regional director of leasing for its The Michelson office tower at 3161 Michelson in Irvine. He previously held leasing director posts at RREEF Funds LLC and McCarthy Cook & Co. In his position, Harnetiaux will be responsible for all leasing activities for the 531,000-square-foot office building.
TECHNOLOGY
Tallega Software LLC hired Clint Hofer as director of professional services in its Irvine headquarters. Hofer previously worked as a consultant in document management for various technology providers such as Kofax PLC and EMC Corp.
