AGRICULTURE

The Santa Ana-based California Avocado Commission promoted Michelle Spelman to marketing director. She will be responsible for managing ad-vertising, public re-lations, grower communications and promotions. She previously worked as the commission’s communications director.

ARCHITECTURE

San Clemente-based landscape architectural firm The Collabor-ative West promoted Lance Kalani Walker to associate. Walker has been with Coll-aborative since 2000. His responsibilities in-clude projects development.

CONSTRUCTION

Michael Archibald joined Suffolk Con-struction Co. as senior vice president, Wes-tern region operations. He will work out of the company’s Irvine office. Prior to joining Suffolk, Archibald was vice president of Nielsen Dillingham Builders’ San Diego commercial construction division. He has more than 20 years experience and was involved in the expansion of San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.

The Wentz Group construction services hired two people for its Irvine office. John Very joined Wentz in the newly created position of director of tenant services. Robert Long has joined the company as a chief estimator. Very will be responsible for developing strategies and securing new contracts for Wentz. Long is responsible for overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects.

INSURANCE

SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage in Irvine appointed Russel A. Gunn vice president, specializing in healthcare, manufacturing and construction contractors of midsize companies. He previously was a vice president of Empire Co. in Santa Ana. Gunn also served on the Orange County Business Council.

INVESTMENTS

Jerry Sebag of Corona del Mar is a new member in the Tech Cost Angles Orange County network investment group. He joins 80 other individual investors. Tech Coast Angels operate in Los Angeles, OC and San Diego. Membership is by invitation.

LAW

Costa Mesa law firm Rutan & Tucker added two associates. Susan Barricella will join the firm’s intellectual practice group. She spent the past three years at Arter & Hadden. Barricella earned her law degree in 1997 from University of San Diego. Epiphany Owen will work in Rutan’s municipal and government agency law group. Owen graduated from the University of Southern California in 2000.

MEDICAL

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian added Kenneth Beall, Gail Kirwan and James Madden to its Foundation board of directors. Beall manages Bridge Partners, a real estate investment company. Kirwan is on the board for Opera Pacific. Madden is founder and chief executive of Irvine-based Exult Inc., a provider of outsourced human resources services.

Tustin-based Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. named Dane Peshe director of magnetic resonance imaging and the nuclear medicine business unit. Peshe will be responsible for tactical and marketing plans with a focus on growing the company’s MRI and nuclear medicine segments.

NONPROFIT

Kristi Munns joined the Orange County Community Foundation as donor communications officer. She previously was the communications director for the American Lung Association of Orange County.

PRINTING

Irvine-based Print Inc. hired Dan Galletta as a sales consultant for OC. Galletta will be responsible for increasing Print’s customer base. He was a regional sales manager at Woodland Hill-based Broadstream Inc., a company that measures and monitors streaming data. He also was a national account manager at Hyundai Electronic America.

Irvine-based Printronix Inc. appointed Jim McWilson vice president of sales for the Americas and David Sakai vice president of worldwide marketing. McWilson’s duties include distribution, major account sales and services in the U.S. and Canada. Sakai is responsible for implementing strategic, tactical, vertical and product marketing for various programs.

SERVICES

Ultralink Inc., a Costa Mesa-based provider of outsourced employee benefits administration, appointed J. Stephen Ashley as the company’s vice president of consulting services. Ashley will be responsible for providing consulting services as well as directing Ultralink’s procurement services. He currently holds executive and committee posts with the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations.
