Employers Group Gets A New Director
The Employers Group, a nonprofit human resource management association, named Cheryl Harrington to head its Orange County office. Harrington spent the last 16 years in the healthcare industry, most recently as president and CEO of Theracare. Prior to that, she was senior vice president of business development at Sun Mar Healthcare and vice president of marketing at Community Psychiatric Center.
She replaces Michelle Olson, who relocated to St. Louis when her husband was transferred.
In her new position, the San Juan Capistrano resident will oversee all Orange County operations of the Employers Group, but will focus her efforts on membership, programming and human resource service efforts.
“I really want to work on expanding membership to the booming high-tech and dot-com industries, said Harrington. “The group is looking to expand its services to meet the needs of these high-tech employees.”
Harrington said she is also looking to improve the quality of the programming and seminars that the association offers to its members.
Harrington is a graduate of Edinboro State College in Pennsylvania and holds a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
She is a past president of City of Hope-Women’s Council of Orange County and a member of the National Association of Female Executives.
In her spare time, Harrington enjoys working with the Orange County Performing Arts Center where her husband is employed, collecting antiques with her husband and golfing, although she admits her new duties put quite a strain on her fairway time.
The Employers Group provides human resources consulting services to more than 2.1 million employees and employers.
