Sherry Pollack was hired by Y & R; Companies as senior vice president, group creative director. Prior to joining Y & R;, Pollack worked for McCann-Erickson.


Architecture

Gensler hired Lila Tsuda Grant as a senior interior designer. Grant has 18 years of experience as an interior designer and worked for HKS Architects Inc. prior to joining Gensler.

Kurt Buxton was promoted to principal at HRP LanDesign. Buxton joined HRP in 1987, and has been a registered architect for 11 years.

Denver-based RNL Design named James Madden intern architect in its Orange County office.

Danielian Associates appointed 22-year industry veteran Valerie Hardman director of marketing.


Banking and Finance

First American Capital Management Inc. named Roddy Ennico chairman, Mark Hoppe president and Robert Venable executive vice president and chief investment officer. Ennico also was named executive vice president of First American Trust, a subsidiary of First American Corp. Hoppe comes to First American from First Security Van Kasper, while Venable was most recently vice president, global asset allocation for Pimco Advisors LP. In addition, First American Trust promoted Jerald Lewis to chairman from president. Thomas M. Kelley was promoted to president from executive vice president.

John Hyche was promoted to senior vice president of syndications for Sanwa Bank’s commercial banking group. Hyche joined the company in 1998, and was vice president and team leader of insurance and financial services for Sanwa.


Biotechnology

Dr. Mitchell Brin was named vice president, Botox and neurology at Allergan. Before joining Allergan, Brin was an attending physician and associate professor of neurology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.


Business Services

Virtual CEO Inc named D. Scott Clifton senior vice president and director of sales and business development. Clifton has 17 years of sales experience and worked for Warner-Lambert.


Engineering

RBF Consulting chief executive Robert Bein was named national president of the American Society of Civil Engineers.


Healthcare

NeoTherapeutics named Dr. F. Jacob Huff vice president, medical director. Most recently, Huff was vice president, global therapeutic area neuroscience at Hoechst Marion Roussel.

HealthMarket hired Tammy Tucker as vice president of executive accounts. Tucker will be responsible for national account sales and account management.


Hospitality

Jean-Francois Lehuede was named pastry chef at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel. Prior to joining the Ritz-Carlton Lehuede was the pastry chef for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong.


Insurance

Victoria Hawks was appointed assistant vice president of employee benefits at SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage. Hawks spent four years with Aon Consulting prior to joining SCM.


Law

Arter & Hadden LLP hired Jay Thompson as a partner. Thompson will be a member of the firm’s corporate practice team. Prior to joining Arter & Hadden, Thompson worked at Drummy, King, White & Gire.


Marketing

Cara Turner was hired as public relations coordinator at Roxburgh. Turner will be responsible for special events coordination and facilitating client service activities.

Big Man Creative Inc. appointed Scott Shuford vice president. Prior to joining Big Man, Shuford was a producer for the Music Channel. Shuford will lead client relations and provide strategic direction for the company.

Les Goldberg was named vice president and general manager at Maples Communications Inc. Before joining Maples, Goldberg was vice president, corporate communications for Uniloc Inc.


Organizations

Eric Kimbro and Jerry Rollins were named members-at-large of the American Heart Association’s Orange County board of directors. Kimbro is senior district sales manager for SmithKline Beecham. Rollins is the chief financial officer of MWB Business Systems.

Donald P. Kennedy, chairman of First American Corp., was elected chairman of the board of governors of the Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.


Real Estate

Bob Zemel was installed on the board of directors for the Building Industry Association of Orange County. Zemel is vice president of public affairs for Fidelity National Financial Inc.

Julien Cooper was selected as the manager of information technology for Professional Community Management Inc. Prior to joining PCM, Cooper was project manager for Techfuel.


Technology

David Lakso was appointed vice president and general manager of XO Communications Inc.’s Los Angeles and Orange County markets. Prior to joining XO, Lakso was vice president of business development for GTC Telecom.

Toshiba America Electronic Components promoted Stephen Marlow to executive vice president, a new position. Marlow will assist in setting strategic policy for the company. Marlow has been with Toshiba for 20 years.
