CONSTRUCTION
St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Cos. promoted Max A. Burcham from senior project manager to on-site project director for the Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian Women’s Pavilion, East Tower project in Newport Beach. Burcham has been with McCarthy for 17 years and previously held project manager, assistant project manager and project engineer positions with the builder.
EDUCATION
Laguna College of Art & Design appointed five trustees for 2004: Catharine Cooper, Leon Lyon, Machiko Naganuma, Christine Rhoades and Cyndee Whitney. Cooper of Laguna Beach is an artist, graphic designer and columnist for the Coastline Pilot. Lyon of Newport Beach is the retired president of Guardian Thrift and Loan, Los Angeles. He has been board chairman of both the Orange County Museum and Laguna College. Naganuma of Irvine is a graduate of the college’s drawing and painting program. Rhoades of Laguna Beach taught dance and theatre and owns Ocean Real Estates Inc. Whitney of Newport Beach is a creative development executive in the animation and entertainment industry.
FINANCE
Scott R. Brooks joined McKennon, Wilson & Morgan LLP in Irvine as a partner providing corporate finance and assurance services. Prior to joining the company, Brooks served as a financial officer for several private and public companies and was a former auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Endologix Inc. appointed Roderick de Greef to its board. He replaces Michael R. Henson, who retired. De Greef is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cardiac Science Inc. He also serves as a director of BioLife Solutions Inc., a Binghamton, N.Y.-based biotechnology company, and Dentalview Inc., an Irvine-based early stage medical device company.
LAW
Autumn Gresowski joined Costa Mesa-based Albert, Weiland & Golden LLP as an associate in the firm’s business litigation practice. She previously worked at Chicago-based McDermott Will & Emery, where she handled business litigation, including breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets and patent infringement cases.
The Irvine office of Crandall, Wade & Lowe named Laurie Messerly as associate counsel. Messerly’s practice includes business and general civil litigation, as well as insurance defense. Messerly previously clerked for the firm and is a recent graduate of Chapman University School of Law.
MARKETING
E-marcom Inc. in Irvine hired Joel Millares as director of growth. He will be in charge of increasing market share for the company’s multimedia programming, interactive tracking and CD and DVD divisions. Millares has more than 10 years of experience in the telecommunication, technology and consulting industries.
MEDIA
Creative Media Recording in Cypress appointed Alex Graham as audio engineer and producer. He previously worked as a sound designer and video editor in Orange County and Los Angeles. Graham is a graduate of Chapman University’s film school.
NONPROFIT
Robert K. Cole and Douglas J. McCrea were elected to the advisory board for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County, which provides volunteer advocates for abused, abandoned and neglected children. Cole is chief executive and chairman of Irvine-based New Century Financial Corp. McCrea is managing director for the Orange County office of Deutsche Bank AG. McCrea’s wife, Melinda, was a founding member of Court Appointed Special Advocates when the Junior League of Orange County created the organization.
Art & Creativity for Healing Inc., which gives art classes and workshops for children, teens and adults suffering from abuse, illness, grief and stress, appointed three new members to its board: Vicky Carabini, John Kay and Donna Walp. Carabini founded Carabini Marketing & Public Relations and retired in 1998 to become a full-time mom and volunteer. Kay is the national account manager for Authentic Specialty Foods Inc. Walp is the general manager for Ayres Group in Costa Mesa.

Costa Mesa-based Resources Connection Inc. appointed Neil F. Dimick to its board. Dimick served most recently as executive vice president and chief financial officer of AmerisourceBergen Corp. until his retirement.
