ACCOUNTING

Irvine-based Haskell & White LLP promoted Patrick Ross to partner in its audit and business advisory group. Ross is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and takes part in Orange County On Track, a Santa Ana-based youth mentoring and leadership group where he serves as board chairman.


ADVERTISING

San Diego-based Mindgruve Inc. added Michael Garten as vice president of business development. Garten is responsible for creating relationships with companies. He will be managing Mindgruve’s new Irvine office, working with clients in San Diego and OC.


BANKING

Darren Henderson and Jon Tenney joined the Newport Beach private banking and investment group at Merrill Lynch & Co. Henderson and Tenney previously were vice presidents in the private wealth management division of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Downey Savings, part of Newport Beach-based Downey Financial Corp., promoted Paul Sandoval to vice president in the major loan department. He most recently was vice president and a commercial real estate loan officer.


CONSULTING

James Hickey was hired as regional practice leader for Irvine-based Tatum LLC in its Pacific region offices. Hickey previously was a senior vice president at St. Paul, Minn.-based Merrill Corp.

Irvine-based Percept Group hired Judy Shea as senior account manager of its client services division.


EDUCATION

Susan Cooper has been named dean of the Irvine campus of California State University, Fullerton. Cooper previously was dean of career technical education and workforce development at Irvine Valley College. She also served as dean of mathematics, sciences and engineering, as well as dean of advanced technology and library sciences at Irvine Valley.


FINANCE

Victor Hum was hired as director of sales for La Habra-based American First Credit Union. Hum will oversee the sales and development of the bank’s five OC locations.


HEALTHCARE

Children’s Hospital of Orange County added Doug McCombs to its board. McCombs is a partner at the Irvine office of Chicago-based Grant Thornton LLP.


LAW

Irvine-based Allen Mat-kins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP added Keith Paul Bishop as a partner in its OC office. Bishop most recently was managing partner of Los Angeles-based Buchalter Nemer’s OC office.


REAL ESTATE

Encino-based Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services Inc. named Joseph Cesta regional manager of its Newport Beach office. Cesta joined the brokerage in 2001 and became an associate in 2002, specializing in retail investments. Cesta earned his bachelor’s from Arizona State University, where he played football.

Irvine-based R.D. Olson Development promoted Michael Riley from director of development to vice president of finance. Riley will oversee the company’s acquisitions and dispositions.

Jeff Olshan and Todd Siegel were promoted to vice presidents of asset management at Passco Cos. in Irvine. Olshan’s focus will be on apartments while Siegel will focus on retail properties.

Urban Land Institute’s Orange County District Council added Jeff Mayer, principal at architecture firm McLarand Vasquez Emsiek & Partners, as chair. Mayer will work with the district council to increase its presence in the community.


SPORTS

Sam Vincent, former head coach of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, was named head coach of the Anaheim Arsenal, part of the NBA Development League. Vincent also has coached with the Dallas Mavericks, Mobile Revelers, Fort Worth Flyers and several international teams.
