Porter Novelli Convergence Group, Irvine, added vice president Lance Allega to its senior management team. Previously, the 10-year industry veteran was director of corporate communications for Oakley Inc. Allega will work with the Hewlett-Packard digital entertainment category to pursue new business in Orange County.


ARCHITECTURE

Newport Beach-based Fieldstone Communities Inc. promoted Steven Cameron to president for the OC Metro Division. Cameron will oversee land acquisition, fiscal management, construction operations and sales and marketing efforts. Previously, Cameron was associate director for Continental Bank in Chicago.

Kaufman Meeks+Partners Inc.’s Newport Beach office appointed Robert Turk and Manhar Rana project architects. Turk, formerly of McLarand Vasquez & Partners, will be responsible for the College Park project in San Jose. Before joining the firm, Rana was with Lee & Sakahara. In addition, the firm promoted David Gilmour and John Garrison to partners.


BANKING/FINANCE

Sunwest Bank, Tustin, hired Gelareh Arfania as vice president and premier banking manager responsible for developing new business for high net worth clients. Arfania most recently worked for Bank of America.

Newport Beach-based Sutro & Co. named Terri Millson portfolio manager.

Costa Mesa-based Corporate Capital Group hired Guy Joseph Roney III as senior vice president. The 25-year industry veteran will be involved in strategic planning and project development.


BIOMEDICAL

Leonard R. Borrmann was named president and CEO for Maret Pharmaceuticals. Previously, the 18-year industry veteran was CEO for ACADIA Pharmaceuticals.


HEALTHCARE

PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Santa Ana, added Arthur B. Laffer, Ph.D. and Sanford M. Litvack to its board of directors. Laffer heads an economic research and consulting firm, Laffer Associates, in San Diego. Most recently, Litvack was vice chairman of the board at The Walt Disney Co. In addition, the firm promoted Rebekah Whitehouse to vice president, consumer sales.

Alteer Corp., Irvine, named Ed Allison senior vice president of operations. Allison comes to the firm from InfoCure’s San Diego office and will oversee the sales, training and implementation and technical service departments.


HOSPITALITY

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel promoted Michelle Caporicci to director of conference services and Mary Wellens to front office manager. In addition, the hotel added Ripley Vaughn as national sales manager. William Zedaker and Kimberly Yost also joined Ritz-Carlton as conference services managers.

Seamus McManus joined The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort as general manager. McManus will be responsible for daily operations of the Dana Point resort, scheduled to open in August. Previously, he was managing director for Meadowood in Napa Valley.


HUMAN RESOURCES

Irvine-based Pacific Executive Search Group Inc. promoted Crystal J. Hart, Mary Patterson and Brett Cotter to its information technology group.

NSURANCE

Pacific Life Insurance Co., Newport Beach, promoted four executives: Mark W. Holmlund to executive vice president, institutional products division; Henry M. McMillan, senior vice president, institutional products division; Daragh O’Sullivan, vice president, product design; and Thomas C. Bilello, assistant vice president, life insurance division in the compliance department.


LAW

The Orange County Bar Association named its officers for 2001: senior deputy public defender, Danni R. Murphy, president; Richard W. Millar, president-elect; Robert Gerard, treasurer; Kim R. Hubbard, secretary; and Joel S. Miliband, immediate past president. The 6,800-member association is the third-largest voluntary bar in California.

Irvine-based Payne & Fears LLP appointed Benjamin A. Nix chair of business litigation practice and named Eric C. Sohlgren chair of employment law practice. Sohlgren also chairs the OC Bar Association’s labor and employment law section.

An Irvine attorney, Jean A. Hobart, was elected to the board of the Consumer Attorneys of California. Hobart, also president-elect of Women in Business OC, has practiced law for 23 years.

Sharon L. Bilbeisi, Jeffrey R. Hartmann and David A. Sherak joined Resnick & Gray, Newport Beach, as associates, while Sheila Patterson was named of counsel.


MARKETING+PUBLIC RELATIONS

Irvine-based NuVisions named Dominic Symes partner and creative director. Previously, the 14-year industry veteran was with Saatchi and Saatchi.

GreenLight, Newport Beach, promoted Laura Lamude to senior account executive and Morgan Klappenback to associate account executive. GreenLight specializes in strategic marketing consulting for technology companies.

Roland DGA Corp., Irvine, promoted Dede Logemann to marketing manager. Logemann holds an MBA in marketing from Virginia Tech.

Ryan Mahar joined Costa Mesa-based Stoyan Design as a designer. Previously, Mahar was a designer for Oh Boy in San Francisco.


TECHNOLOGY

Troy Group Inc., Santa Ana, appointed Vane P. Clayton president of its wireless subsidiary, Troy XCD. Clayton replaces Keith Sugawara, who took over as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Clayton was previously with SOS Wireless Communications in Irvine.


TRANSPORTATION

Irvine-based Transportation.com hired Beth Greene as director of business development, serving the northwest area of the country. She comes to the firm from Profit Recovery Group USA Inc. where she was regional manager for the logistics management division.


UTILITIES

The Orange County Water District added Jan Debay to its board of directors. The 13-year public sector veteran will be responsible for Division 7 that includes Costa Mesa and parts of Newport Beach, Irvine, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Westminster.
