PEOPLE

ARCHITECTURE

Chris Coonan was named studio director for the new retail developments studio at the Newport Beach office of Alameda-based MBH Architects Inc. Coonan formerly was senior design project manager in the corporate property development at Target Corp.

EDUCATION

Coastline Community College hired Douglas Benoit as dean of career and technical education and Margaret Quinones as dean of counseling and special programs. Coastline’s main campuses are in Costa Mesa, Garden Grove and Westminster. Benoit will work from Garden Grove. Quinones will lead at two different campuses.

Harry Hamilton was named interim provost and executive vice president at Chapman University in Orange, replacing Hamid Shirvani. Hamilton previously was provost from 1990 to 2000, and recently was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Orange County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The Orange County High School of the Arts named William A. Lee to the board of its foundation. Lee is a retired manager who served in human resources and information systems.

EMPLOYMENT

O’Shea, Divine & Co., a professional executive resources company in Newport Beach, added John C. Wallin as partner.

ENGINEERING

Irvine-based Fuscoe Engineering Inc. promoted Greg Mino and Oriana Slasor from senior engineers to project managers. The company recently was named one of the top 10 “Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work for” in the nation by CE News Magazine.

GOVERNMENT

Interim City Manager John Sibley was appointed as city manager by the City Council of Orange for a one-year term. Sibley was hired as assistant city manager in 2001 and replaces Dave Rudat, who retired.

HEALTHCARE

Tustin-based Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. named Joseph Cooper senior manager of radiology computed tomography. The company, a unit of Toshiba Corp., markets, sells, distributes and services diagnostic imaging systems such as X-ray and ultrasound equipment.

LAW

Crowell and Moring LLP added Daniel A. Sasse at its Irvine office. Sasse, whose specialty is antitrust law and antitrust cartel litigation, previously was resident at the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

MANUFACTURING

Patrick Comiskey was hired as regional sales director at Omnikeys Americas in Irvine, a unit of Germany’s Omnikey AG. The company makes smart card readers.

MEDIA

Elaine Zinngrabe was named general manager at the Costa Mesa office of the Daily Pilot, Huntington Beach Independent and Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot. The newspapers are the Orange County weeklies of the Times Community News, part of the Los Angeles Times. Zinngrabe most recently was director of the Los Angeles Times’ interactive division.

NONPROFIT

Darval Bonelli was added as director of development at Laura’s House in San Juan Capistrano. She will oversee the group’s fund-raising and raise the public’s awareness through events.

The CHOC Padrinos, a fund-raising group of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County and CHOC at Mission, added four members to its board: Debbie Corwin, legal assistant at Rutan and Tucker LLP; Mary Lynn Gaddis, owner of a consulting firm for medical startups; Kathryn Jurgensen, president of Premier Meetings; and K.C. Schaaf, founding partner of Stradling, Yocca, Carlson & Rauth.

REAL ESTATE

Atlanta-based Beazer Homes’ Southern California Region promoted Katherine Cantino to director of sales from sales manager at its Orange office.
