BANKING

Deutsche Bank AG’s Private Wealth Management unit named Newport Beach’s Hal Harley to the newly created position of managing director and head of its Los Angeles office.

EDUCATION

Ed Hays, an attorney from West Covina, was named president of the alumni association of California State University, Fullerton, for 2004-2005. Other members added to the board included: Annette Feliciani, president of AEF Systems Consulting Inc. in Orange; Albert J. Garcia, attorney for Southern California Edison; Bobbi Rice, president of B.P. Rice & Co.; and John W. Sibley, assistant city manager of Orange.

HEALTHCARE

Michael J. Quinn, chairman and chief executive of Cardio-Genesis Corp., a Foothill Ranch-based maker of laser systems used in heart surgeries, was appointed to the board at Tucson-based SynCardia Systems Inc., a developer of heart replacement and other devices. Quinn has been in his current positions with CardioGenesis since 2000.

INSURANCE

Irvine-based SullivanCurtisMonroe Insur-ance Brokerage appointed Jonathon S. Aslay as its vice president. Aslay has 18 years of experience in the insurance industry and most recently was with J. Gregory Brown & Co. in Los Angeles.

LAW

Kring & Chung LLP added Ellis K. Park as an associate attorney at its headquarters in Irvine. Park’s practice will include business and corporate law, general civil litigation and estate planning.

Minneapolis-based Dorsey & Whitney LLP hired trial attorney Steven D. Allison as of-counsel in the firm’s Irvine office. Allison will focus on commercial litigation. He cofounded Hodel, Briggs, Allison & Winter LLP, which also is in Irvine.

MARKETING

Rodheim Marketing Group of Costa Mesa promoted James Harter to vice president. Harter, who has been with Rodheim for four years, previously was director of sales and marketing and director of game day operations for the Anaheim Bullfrogs, a member of the Roller Hockey International League.

MEDIA & PUBLISHING

Keith Gilpin was named director of direct mail sales for Freedom Metro Information, which is part of Irvine-based Freedom Communications Inc. Gilpin has 25 years of experience in the industry, including 15 with the Arizona Republic.

NONPROFIT

The Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center in Santa Ana appointed Sue O’Shea to its board. O’Shea, director of sales and marketing for the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, will serve a two-year term with the center.

The Orange County Health Needs Assessment, a Santa Ana-based organization that provides periodic countywide reports on local health needs to hospitals and county agencies, appointed Michael Ruane, executive director of the Children and Families Commission of Orange County, as chairman of the board; and Gwyn Parry, director of community medicine at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, as vice-chair. Other additions to the board were: Ronald R. DiLuigi, Jon D. Gilwee, Fran S. Hanckel, Mark B. Horton, Edward B. Kacic and Gerald R. Solomon.

The Community Foundation of Orange elected two members to its board: Philip L. Hummel IV, principal at a local law firm; and Ed Howard, director of athletics for the Orange Unified School District and boy’s athletic director at Orange High School.

The Alzheimer’s Ass-ociation of Orange County appointed Patricia Soldano to the board of directors of its local chapter in Orange. Soldano is the founder of Cymric Family Office Services in Costa Mesa, which provides asset management services to high-profile families.
