The Motorcycle Industry Council, Irvine, appointed Ty van Hooydonk as managing director, communications, for the Discover Today’s Motorcycling program, a news and information bureau. Previously, van Hooydonk managed American Suzuki Motor Corp.’s automotive, motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle accounts at Paine PR in Costa Mesa.

Magnum Enterprises Inc., Anaheim, has hired Julie Norberg as director of business development for the general contractor. Norberg will develop marketing strategies and conduct market research.
HEALTHCARE
Quest Diagnostics Inc. has named Rich Knox materials manager for the Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano. Knox previously was employed as senior sourcing specialist with Medtronic Inc.’s Santa Ana operation.
HOSPITALITY
Susan Cowan has been elected to Anaheim Memorial Center’s Board of Directors. Cowan serves as vice president, operation services, for Disneyland. Cowan join-ed Walt Disney Co. in 1997 as director of business planning and moved onto director of theme park operations business and cast resources. Prior to joining Disney, she was marketing manager at Kraft General Foods.
The Center Club, Costa Mesa, has appointed James Resler as operations manager. Resler will supervise food, beverage and clubhouse operations and work directly with the club’s catering, private party, special event programming, member relations and general management departments. Previously, Resler was operations manager at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, Texas, where he was executive chef.
The Los Angeles County Fair Association has named Julie Freund of Huntington Beach Fairplex advance sales supervisor. Freund was previously employed by Family Fun Center in Anaheim as director of sales.
LAW
Dean J. Zipser has been elected secretary of the Orange County Bar Association. Zipser’s term begins in January. He will become treasurer, president-elect, and then president in 2005. Zipser is head of the litigation department and former managing partner of the Irvine office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
REAL ESTATE
Kevin Tucker recently joined Johnson Capital in its Irvine office. Tucker will perform financial and real state analysis on commercial property. In the past three years, he has worked with General Electric Capital Corp. in Mexico City, Irvine and Sydney, Australia.
Passco Real Estate Enterprises Inc., Santa Ana, has hired Sandra K. Burton as Southern California regional property manager. Burton will be responsible for property management for the company’s real estate portfolio. She formerly was affiliated with Vestar and managed a portfolio totaling 1.3 million square feet of retail property. Additionally, Dawn R. Eisenberg has joined the firm as director of escrow. Eisenberg will direct Passco’s escrow services including the closing of Passco’s property and tenant in common escrow closings. Previously, she served as lease negotiator for Westfield Corp. Inc.

Irvine’s SageTree Inc., a unit of Lake Forest-based Western Digital Corp., has named David Fiddler vice president of sales and business development. Fiddler will manage sales, presales, channel and strategic alliance relationships. Previously, Fiddler worked at Adexa Inc., EXE Technologies Inc. and Evolutionary Technologies Inc.
Microsemi Corp., Irvine, named Dr. Carmelo J. Santoro to its board of directors. Santoro also has been a board member of Seagate Technology Inc. and Dallas Semiconductor Corp. He also has held positions at AST Research Inc., Silicon Systems Inc. and Ashton-Tate Corp.
TRANSPORTATION
Villa Park resident Gregory Winterbottom will be the new “public member” of the Orange County Transit Authority board of directors. Winterbottom was formerly the executive director of the Orange County Consolidated Transportation Services Agency, which provided “paratransit” service to persons with disabilities, before being absorbed by OCTA in 1991. He also has chaired the OCTA Transit Planning and Operations Committee for the past several years.
