A unit of Santa Ana-based PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. is taking up more than 65,000 square feet of space in Cypress to house technology workers.
PacifiCare of California, the health maintenance organization’s division for the state, is scheduled to start moving employees into a former warehouse in the Warland/Cypress Business Center this fall.
Building renovations at the site are valued at an estimated $3.6 million, according to CoStar Group Inc. PacifiCare spokesman Tyler Mason said that’s not what the company is paying to fix up the site but declined to give specifics.
Mason said the new space would house information systems and software development employees for PacifiCare of California and PacifiCare Health Systems. No new jobs are being added in the move, he said.
Mason said the new space is “the first new block we’ve moved into” since PacifiCare Health Systems acquired FHP International Corp. in 1997.
R.D. Olson Construction of Irvine is the contractor on the renovation, according to CoStar. The former warehouse is located at 6251 Katella Ave., across the street from PacifiCare’s customer service call center. n
