OC’s Unemployment Rate Drops in February

Orange County’s unemployment rate fell to 3.5% in February, the state Employment Development Department said Friday.

The February rate is down from 3.6% in January and 3.6% in February 2006.

The total number of nonfarm jobs in OC rose by 8,900 workers to 1,519,300 jobs from January. The number of jobs was up 1% from a year earlier.

California’s unemployment rate was 5.2% in February, with 944,000 people unemployed. That’s down from 5.4% seen a year ago and 5.3% seen in January.
