OC Unemployment Rate at 3.6%

Orange County’s unemployment rate held fairly steady in February at 3.6%, the state Employment Development Department said Friday.

The county’s unemployment rate was up slightly from a revised 3.5% in January. But the unemployment rate in February was down from 4.1% a year ago.

California’s unemployment rate was 5% in February, up from a revised 4.8% in January but down from 5.6% a year earlier.

The number of people unemployed in California was 879,000 in February,an increase of 20,000 from January, but down 109,000 compared to a year earlier.
