Orange County home prices hit another record in May with sales picking up a bit.
The median price paid for an OC home was $590,000 last month, up 8.7% from a year ago and 2% from April, according to La Jolla-based DataQuick Information Systems, a unit of MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates of Vancouver, British Columbia.
The gain continues to reflect a slowing in the runaway price rises for the housing peak, when the median grew at 20%-plus annual jumps.
The number of homes sold in OC in May was 4,548, up 3.7% from a year ago. In April, 4,547 homes were sold, literally one less than May.
San Diego and Los Angeles counties saw a drop the pace of home sales.
