Irvine-based Spot International, which licenses several sportswear and footwear brands, has licensed the design and manufacture of its Suburban sportswear brand to an Irvine manufacturer.
nZania, a 10-year-old company that manufactures private label clothing, replaces Chatsworth-based Irving B. Reder, a private-label manufacturer that has held the license for three years.
“We are moving the brand from Irving B. Reder because of financial constraints,” said John Bernard, president of Spot International. “The company couldn’t keep up with the growth of the brand. The volume is at a stage where we need a company with deep pockets, extensive advertising and marketing plans, PR firms, merchandising to get us to the point where we want to be.”
Spot International licenses the brands 26Red, 26redtred, Sugar, Sugar Shoes, Sugar Cosmetics, 26Red Australia, Suburban Australia and Suburban South Africa.
