No Charges in Scuffle at Home of Ritz Owner; Rogers Tries Retirement

Case closed: No charges will be filed in a June altercation at the Balboa Cove home of Ritz restaurant owner Fred Glusman that left Glusman and a female acquaintance injured. Glusman was arrested by Newport Beach police after the woman alleged assault. But OC Senior Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Olivieri says there is “insufficient evidence to prove guilt of an assault beyond a reasonable doubt.” Glusman’s lawyer Joe Smith said he and his client are “pleased” …

Tom Rogers, head of City National Bank’s commercial and private banking operations in OC, San Diego and the Inland Empire, is giving retirement another try. When he joined City National in 2000 after retiring as treasurer of Irvine Company, “I intended to stay for a year. I wound up working for eight.” Expect the well-connected Rogers to get involved in new ventures; he’ll also continue to chair City National’s Orange County Advisory Board and serve on the South Coast Rep board. And he’ll have more time to spend with his younger power-couple half, wife Sally Anderson, who retired from Ernst & Young six months ago. Rogers’ replacement at City National is Kevin Dunigan, who lives in Yorba Linda and oversees the bank’s statewide branch network. He’s moving his office to Irvine and picking up Rogers’ local duties …

Retiring along with Rogers is another exec who spends time in OC, Stan Kafka, who has run City National’s real estate division based in Beverly Hills …

Mike Flynn’s transition to Numero Uno at OC legal powerhouse Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth is almost complete. Next week he’ll swap offices on the 16th floor of 660 Newport Center with the venerable Nick Yocca, getting the corner office with the best coastal views. The idea was Yocca’s; the retired longtime leader intends to keep hanging out down the hall. Flynn was elected chairman of the firm’s executive committee about a year ago and has replaced Yocca as Stradling’s rep on outside boards …
