Legacy Electronics Inc. has completed a $3 million expansion of its San Clemente headquarters and acquired the 15,000-square-foot manufacturing site in the Amanecer Industrial Complex.
The company, which employs 45 people and expects to have as many as 60 by year’s end, has added new manufacturing and test equipment, said President Jason Engle. Legacy designs and produces memory modules and other circuit boards for computer makers.
“We anticipate at least nine more technical spots and additional sales spots,” he said.
The company’s newly acquired plant is nearly double the size of its former San Clemente headquarters. Legacy is one of a cluster of local memory module makers, including Kingston Technology Co. and Viking Components Inc. But Engle said those companies often are customers, turning to Legacy for design and production services. SMART Modular Technologies Inc. of Fremont is a rival, he said.
