Garden Grove’s Cable Channel 3 won three honors in the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors Star Awards. Channel 3 was the only Orange County cable station to place in the top three in its winning categories.

Santa Ana’s Mater Dei High School recognized 1979 graduate Fred Armendariz for his recent appointment by President Bush to the U.S. Small Business Association.

Tesa Meadows, a conflict resolution educator at Irvine-based non-profit Human Options, received the Outstanding Supporter of Prevention Award from the Irvine Community Drug Prevention Organization. She will be named the 2002 Ambassador of Peace by the Violence Prevention Coalition of Orange County.

The Orange County Bar Association presented W. Patrick O’Keefe Jr. with the annual Harmon G. Scoville Award. O’Keefe was recognized for his contribution to the bar association and his adherence to its legal standards.

Aliso Viejo resident Marybeth Green, director of training with Mission Viejo-based The Merit Cos., was named program coordinator of the year by the Community Association Institute’s Orange County Regional Chapter.

The Orange County chapter of the California Restaurant Association Education Foundation presented $5,000 each to four schools. Aliso Niguel High School, Fullerton Union High School, Katella High School and the Newport Harbor High School Education Foundation received the funds to boost their culinary arts programs.

The Roxburgh Agency, a Costa Mesa advertising and public relations firm, received a Telly Award in the Non-Broadcast Film/Video and TV Programs Sales category.

Susan’s Healthy Gourmet, an Irvine-based company that delivers portion-controlled meals to Southern California customers, has been named small business of the year by the Orange Coast College Small Business Assistance Center. The company was founded by Susan Johnson in 1996.

Newport Beach-based Kauffman Meeks + Partners won several industry awards at the 2002 Multi-Housing National Conference for a variety of mixed-use and residential projects.
