KOCE-TV, Orange County’s public broadcast station based in Huntington Beach, received three Golden Mike Awards from the Radio and Television News Association in the categories lifetime achievement, best documentary and best “spot” news. Ed Arnold, co-host of the nightly news program “Real Orange,” received the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes journalists who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to quality journalism, integrity, community service and/or the media’s First Amendment rights. Maria Hall-Brown, host of Bookmark with Maria Hall-Brown, a weekly interview program, received Best Documentary for “Pacific Symphony: Notes from Europe.” David Nazar, reporter, received Best “Spot” News for his live coverage of a record-breaking marijuana bust in Orange County.

Santa Ana-based First American Corp. received the InfoWorld 100 award from InfoWorld Magazine. The annual awards honor information technology projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further companies’ business goals. Nominations were submitted by InfoWorld readers, technology partners and companies.

Rebekah Gladson, associate vice chancellor and campus architect at the University of California, Irvine, re-ceived the Brunelles-

chi Lifetime Achieve-ment Award from the Design-Build Institute of America at its national conference. The award honors individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributed significant advancement toward design and construction.

Irvine-based architectural and planning company KTGY Group Inc. won the Grand Award at the Builder’s Choice Awards by Builder Magazine for two residential mixed-use projects, Bayside in Hercules and Aqua Via in Oakland. The judges chose projects that were alternatives to the status quo with a long-term vision.

Mark Himmelstein, a partner at Newport Beach-based law firm Newmeyer & Dillion LLP, was named 2006 Associate of the Year by the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County chapter. Himmelstein served his first year as a member of the board and co-chaired the membership committee. He added 50 members while maintaining leading retention rates among the seven chapters in the association’s Southern California region. The association is a nonprofit representing more than 970 companies in the homebuilding industry.

Raman Unnikrish-nan, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State Univ-ersity, Fullerton, was honored as a fellow at the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engin-eers Inc. The institute’s board chose Unnikrish-nan for his contributions to automatic control systems and power electronics education.

St. Joseph Health System in Orange received the Civie Award from Capitol Advantage. The award recognizes best practices in citizen advocacy communications. The health system won the award with its series of “blast alerts” promoting renewal of Measure M on its advocacy website.

Michael Rudinica, executive vice president of Irvine-based RBF Consulting, received the 2006 Presidential Donor Volunteer Award from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. The award recognizes Presidential Donors who contribute significant time and funds to the school. Rudinica is an alumnus.

MVE Institutional, an Irvine-based firm specializing in educational and civic architecture, won the Award of Honor in the category Project-in-Design Phase at the Professional Design Awards.

The award was presented by the Comm-unity College Facility Coalition with the California Commu-nity College Chancellor’s Office. The winning project was the performing arts classroom and auditorium at Oxnard College. The project was chosen for its “inviting entrance” and ability to influence positive enrollment at the college.
