Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc., the Irvine-based office equipment arm of Japan’s Toshiba Corp., was named Manufac-turer of the Year, according to a dealer survey by Marketing Research Consultants Inc. Toshiba has earned the award eight times in 11 years.

Metro Magazine recognized the Orange County Transportation Authority as one of 10 Great Transit Systems to Work For. OCTA was selected for its new employee programs, ongoing training and its rewards program. Employee contributions and recycling efforts helped fund $23,000 in scholarships for employees who are students.

New York-based Time Warner Cable Inc., which provides cable TV service to most of North Orange County, was named 2008 Operator of the Year in the Sept. 29 edition of Multichannel News, a trade publication for the cable TV industry. Time Warner was honored for video services, competitive strength in key markets and for its partial spinoff from majority owner Time Warner Inc. in 2007.

Greenberg Traurig LLP lawyers John Giovannone, Gregory Hurley and Jeffrey Joy were included in the Best Lawyers in America ranking. Giovannone focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions. Hurley specializes in mass torts litigation. Joy does tax law.

The Pimco Foundation, the charitable arm of Newport Beach-based bond manager Pacific Investment Management Co., honored Bobbitt Williams with its Excellence Award in recognition of her volunteer efforts. Williams and her husband, Bill, are honorary chairs of the American Cancer Society’s OC Baron’s Ball. As part of the award, the foundation made a $100,000 donation to the American Cancer Society.

Mark Minyard received the Orange County Bar Foundation Society of Fellows Distinguished Award. Minyard launched the foundation’s Society of Fellows, a giving program. He is a partner at Minyard Morris LLP in Newport Beach.

Laura Tarbox was named one of Worth Magazine’s Top 250 Wealth Advisors in the country. Tarbox is president at Tarbox Group Inc. in Newport Beach. Tarbox was a director on the national board of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and is a past president of the Orange County society of the institute.

The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce named several winners of the Anaheim Business Awards. Some are: Greg Smith, general manager of the Anaheim Convention Center; Anaheim GardenWalk, Tourism Business of the Year; Bomel Construction Co., Family-Owned Business of the Year; and Anaheim Beautiful, Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange received the Ventana Research Overall Business Performance Leadership Award. The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate leadership in optimizing business through people, processes and information and technology.

Newport Beach-based Taylor was named the fourth Best Architecture Firm to Work For in a ranking by ZweigWhite. Design firms were evaluated based on commitment to a positive work environment, professional development and recognition practices. Taylor was also recognized as having the third Best Employee Recog-nition Program in the mid-size design firm category.

Heritage Foods Organic Milk was named the best tasting organic milk in America by the Ameri-can Masters of Taste. Stremicks Heritage Foods LLC pasteurizes and bottles the milk at its Santa Ana warehouse. Stremicks milk won in several varieties: reduced fat 2%, low fat 1%, fat free and whole milk.

Congressmen John Campbell, Edward Royce and Dana Rohrabacher received the National Association of Manufacturers Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence. The award honors federal lawmakers whose voting records consistently support manufacturing in America.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation honored Jack Brown with the Semper Fidelis Award at the foundation’s Annual Ball at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point. Brown is chairman and chief executive of Stater Bros. Holdings Inc. Last year’s honoree, businessman George Argyros, was the dinner’s chairman.

Chapman University named Rueb & #233;n Martinez its newest presidential fellow. Martinez owns the Librer & #237;a Martinez Books and Art Gallery in Santa Ana and also is a Mac-Arthur Foundation Fel-lowship recipient. Mar-tinez will have an office on Chapman’s Orange campus and report to President Jim Doti. He will act as a community ambassador to facilitate science and math programs.
