Peter Gluck was recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Francisco Daily Journal as a Top 25 intellectual property portfolio manager and patent prosecutor in California. Gluck is a partner in the Irvine office of Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP. He co-chairs the firm’s new technology law practice group.
Irvine-based Ignite Health, a healthcare marketing company that is part of inVentiv Health Inc., was awarded best interactive campaign by Med Ad News. The award was presented in New York at the Manny Awards, an annual competition for healthcare advertising. Ignite won for its myinnerstate.com Web site.
Lisa Gibson received the Dolores Nyhus Memorial Award in recognition of her career as a registered dietician. The ceremony was held by the California Dietetic Association in Riverside. Gibson has been a registered dietician and member of the American Dietetic Association for 23 years, focusing on nutrition for the elderly for the past 13 years.
Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP was ranked 12th in a national list of culturally diverse companies published by Multi-Cultural Law Magazine. The law firm has an office in Irvine.
Christy Stoeckel of Costa Mesa was named Angelitos del Oro Big Sister of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. Stoeckel has mentored two youths.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies Gary Lewellyn and Richard Olszynski were recently recognized with Medals of Valor for confronting an armed robber. Additionally, Mike Danciulescu was given the Medal of Lifesaving for preventing a woman’s suicide, and deputy Cary Buechler was honored at a recent Trauma Intervention Program meeting. Each deputy is based in Mission Viejo.
The Mission Viejo City Council honored Kathryn Monaghan and Anna Boyce with the city’s Community of Character Award. Monaghan is a Scout Leader at Barcelona Elementary School. Boyce is a member of the Community Services Commission and co-authored California’s Proposition 215, which passed in 1996 and allows for the legal use of medical marijuana under a doctor’s recommendation. She has volunteered at the Mission Viejo Library and held leadership positions with South County Senior Services.
Julie Hirz was recognized by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation with a Spirit of Volunteerism Award. Hirz was honored for her work as president of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation. Also, the National Charity League received an award on behalf of its members, who volunteered 300 hours with the foundation.
Alan Greeley received the Community Spirit Award from the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and South Coast Metro Alliance. Greeley is founder of The Golden Truffle restaurant in Costa Mesa and a community volunteer. Steve Mensinger was honored with the Individual Achievement Award. Deloitte & Touche LLP, which has an office in Costa Mesa, received the Corporate Leadership Award.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognized the city of Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Police Department for their support of the men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces. Also honored were Paul Walters, chief of police, Kevin De Deaux, a corporal, and the Santa Ana Police Officers’ Association.
Fountain Valley-based Coast Label Co. received the Eugene Singer Award for best managed company at a meeting of the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute held in Florida.
Dana Point-based Ocean Institute named Harry Agger the 2009 Volunteer of the Year. Agger has been a volunteer since 2002, greeting visitors at the information booth, helping out with special events, training volunteers and assisting with the institute’s overnight and weekend programs.
Mark Kartsonis, president of Santa Ana-based Dynamic Fabrication Inc., was awarded the Crystal Flame Award by the National Tooling and Machining Associa-tion. The award is given annually to mem-bers who have contributed to the organization’s mission of assisting individuals in the manufacturing and machining industry.
