The Western Pacific region of Design Build Institute of America gave the local arm of St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Cos., Newport Beach-based architecture firm Taylor and Orange-based Catholic hospital operator St. Joseph Health System a Design-Build Award. The award recognizes the most outstanding design and construction projects in the Western region.

William Gay and John Murphy of Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP’s Irvine office were selected for the 2010 Best Lawyers in America ranking. Gay was chosen for corporate governance and compliance law. Murphy was chosen for eminent domain, condemnation and real estate law.

Irvine-based Fisher & Phillips LLP partners Karl Lindegren, James McDonald, Warren Nelson and John Polson were selected for the 2010 Best Lawyers in America. They practice labor and employment law and represent management officials.

Milly Heaton, director of development for California State University, Fullerton’s College of the Arts, received the 2009 Outstanding Fundraising Profession Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Heaton has overseen $12 million in donations in her seven years at the school.

A Los Alamitos franchise of Mission Viejo-based Sir Speedy Inc., a printing and marketing company, won the Century Club Award. The award recognizes the top 100 franchisees in terms of sales. Allen Laurel and Shawn McLean own the Los Alamitos location, which is one of more than 800 in the world.

Irvine-based Bock Communications Inc., a public relations and marketing agency, received 15 awards at the Orange County Public Relations Society of America Protos awards ceremony, held in Silverado Canyon. The Protos awards honor the best public relations campaigns and programs each year.

Kurt Rahn, landscape and recreation director for Lake Forest-based Professional Community Management Inc., received a Vision Award for Physical Management from the California Association of Community Managers. He was acknowledged for his waste reduction programs at Laguna Woods Village.

Susy McKellar, Jaime Mayo and Marybeth Green of Aliso Viejo-based Merit Property Management Inc. received Vision Awards from the California Association of Community Managers. McKellar received an award for developing a program that helps homeowners without the financial means to keep up with their associations’ standards. Mayo received an award for helping complexes that are dealing with developer bankruptcies keep expenses down. Green received an award for developing a guide on delinquencies and foreclosures.

Parametric Technology Corp. awarded Andrew Mortemore with an award signaling he was the U.S. sales leader in the third quarter and the No. 2 salesperson in North America. Mortemore, who is based out of Irvine, is an account executive.

Delvin Diaz, learning resource manager at Cox Communications Inc.’s Rancho Santa Margarita office, won the 2009 Excellence in Cable Telecommunications Learning and Development Award from the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.

Mayor Donald Garcia recently honored Aliso Viejo’s 2009 Citizens, Senior and Youth of the Year. Robin Colton and Debra Morris were named Citizens of the Year. Edwin Shandrew was honored as Senior of the Year. Alexis Moore was honored as Youth of the Year.
