James “Jimmy P” Peterson has been named to an expanded role as executive chairman of Irvine-based 5G wireless chip startup Mobix Labs.
Peterson was elected board chairman of Mobix Labs earlier this year, and he previously served as CEO and chairman of Microsemi Corporation, now Microchip Technology Inc.
Mobix Labs said the newly created executive chairman position represents Peterson’s expanded role in company’s strategic direction.
“Jimmy has been instrumental in the growth and trajectory of Mobix Labs since we launched operations last year,” said Fabian Battaglia, chief executive of Mobix Labs in announcing the appointment. “He has been closely involved in our fundraising, strategic partnerships and global expansion, including our acquisition of Cosemi Technologies. It is only fitting that his new title fits his expanded role at the company.”
