Irvine Planning Board Recommends Rove EV Station

Plans call for 56 chargers, convenient store

A small convenience store could replace a former restaurant site, located across the street from John Wayne Airport. A notable highlight of the proposed retail project is the inclusion of 56 electric vehicle charging stations

Irvine’s Planning Commission, on Aug. 21, recommended plans for Rove, a proposed 5,022-square-foot convenience store with 56 electric vehicle charging stations, to move forward. The chargers, to be built at 18912 MacArthur Blvd. in Irvine, would be shaded by four photovoltaic canopies.

The store would include a waiting lounge for those who are there to charge their electric vehicles, restrooms and a market. Charging stations would be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The convenient story would be open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Irvine Business Complex site was previously home to a 9,812 square foot restaurant.

Rove is an electric charging station company that includes a lounge and convenience store space. The company opened its first charging location with lounge and convenience store in Santa Ana in October.
