Lawrence “Larry” Higby, chief executive of Lake Forest-based Apria Healthcare Group Inc., has another side gig.
The executive has joined the board of Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes Inc., alongside Chief Executive William Lyon, a comrade of Higby’s in the moderate Republican group New Majority.
Higby also is a director of the Automobile Club of Southern California in Costa Mesa, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, the South Coast Repertory and the American Association for Homecare.
At New Majority, Higby served as chairman until last May, when he stepped aside for Paul Folino of Emulex Corp.
His election to William Lyon’s board brings the company’s directors to nine.
In October, the company replaced three directors who resigned amid a dispute with Lyon over his failed buyout bid to take the company private. Lyon controls about 60% of the company’s shares.
