Newport Beach law firm Newmeyer & Dillion LLP has opened its first Bay area office in Walnut Creek.
“We were already representing a number of our clients in matters up in the Northern California area, and some of them had requested that we open up an office there,” said partner Thomas Newmeyer.
Newmeyer & Dillion’s homebuilding clients that operate in the Bay area include Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp., Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes and Dallas-based Centex Corp.
The firm tapped Jan Gruen, a real estate partner formerly with Walnut Creek’s Morgan, Miller, Blair, to helm Newmeyer & Dillion’s Walnut Creek office. The firm expects to have five attorneys in the office by the end of the year, Newmeyer said.
Newmeyer & Dillion also has a Santa Monica office. It counts 40 Orange County attorneys and 50 in all. Newmeyer & Dillion focuses on litigation, but also handles merger and acquisitions, corporate and labor law work.
