Irvine-based go2 Systems Inc., a maker of software that lets users order and locate food and services via their wireless phones, said Monday it’s raised $13 million, including from Canada’s Geosign Corp.
The company plans to use the money to expand its network. Go2 expects to work with Geosign, which publishes online consumer information guides.
Go2 runs a network of Web sites that allows Internet users looking for a nearby business to type “go2” plus a word describing the business.
Revenue comes from charging fees to businesses that want to appear on its system.
Go2 grew rapidly during the technology boom before falling on hard times in 2001. At that time, the company laid off workers and started seeking a buyer, before opting to go it alone.
