Professional Community Management Inc. raised more than $3,500 in cash and $7,500 in goods to help Southern California fire victims. The donations were given to the OC Chapter of the American Red Cross, Goodwill, Second Harvest Food Bank of OC and the Community Action Partnership of OC Food Bank.
The J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center’s Riders’ Cup Golf Classic raised more than $210,000. Attendees finished off the evening with a cocktail reception, dinner and live auction. Wells Fargo Bank sponsored the event. The Shea Center improves the lives of the disabled through therapeutic horse-related programs.
The Families Forward second annual There is No Place Like Home Gala raised $280,000. The funds will be used to help homeless families regain self-sufficiency through housing, counseling and food. Toyota Motor Sales USA donated a 2008 Prius, which helped raise $50,000. Guests donated $70,000. At a ribbon-cutting at Woodbury Town Center, Wells Fargo & Co. donated $1,000 to Families Forward.
The Henry T. Nicholas III Foundation gave $750,000 to St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano. The money will fund the Tartan Scholars program and provide full-tuition, four-year scholarships. The foundation also gave $500,000 to Habitat for Humanity of OC as part of the Homes for Heroes and Foundations for Families project. The project will create 27 mostly paired homes in San Juan Capistrano with construction beginning in 2008.
The Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America raised $300,000 at its Fifth annual Real Estate Investment Award Luncheon. David Team of LNR Property Corp. was recognized at the luncheon with the Good Scout Award. The funds will provide for growth, educational instruction, community programs and services.
Doctor’s Ambulance donated $10,000 to Southern California wildfire relief efforts. Senior Vice President Kay Kearney presented a check to the OC Chapter of the American Red Cross at Honda Center in Anaheim. Doctor’s Ambulance provides 911 ambulance services for seven cities in OC.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation raised $1.2 million at its Walk to Cure Diabetes. There were more than 4,000 walkers including individuals, corporate and family teams. The money raised at the walk funds diabetes research.
California State University, Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics’ campaign for Mihaylo Hall received new donations: $100,000 from the Alumni Association, $500,000 from Scott O’Brien, president of BAE Systems Products Groups and $50,000 from Mitch Zehner, senior vice president of Voit Commercial Brokerage LP in Orange. The Kresge Foundation gave a challenge grant to be used toward the construction.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of OC’s 43rd annual Gourmet Dinner raised more than $470,000 to help at-risk children in OC. The gala recognized longtime board member Dick Gebhard. The lead sponsor for the event was Succession Capital Alliance. Title sponsors were: the Albert J. Crosson Family, Buchanan Street Partners, Farmers & Merchants Bank and Samsung Corp.
Serving People In Need raised $180,000 at its Under the Harvest Moon Annual Gala honoring Wells Fargo. The evening featured a gourmet dinner from executive chefs Andrew Sutton and Jeff Littlefield. Wells Fargo was honored for its dedicated ongoing support of Serving People In Need programs.
Irvine-based Second Harvest Food Bank raised $23,000 at its “No Lunch” Lunch at Antonello Ristorante in Costa Mesa. The meal consisted of a bowl of soup, a piece of bread and a glass of water. The Food Bank provides food to nearly 400 charitable nonprofit organizations throughout OC.
Wonderland Bakery Adventure in South Coast Plaza hosted a Tea Party in Wonderland for young cancer patients being treated at the Oncology Center at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The Bakery donated $3,000 of opening proceeds to CHOC. The store specializes in gifts, cookies and other gourmet sweets.
Laguna College of Art & Design raised $2,000 to benefit the Alumni Association Scholarships Fund. Six hundred people attended the event, which featured 30 alumni artists. Works of art explored the theme of Capturing the Force of Stillness. Best of Show awards went to Kaleeka Bond and Patrick Whalen. Sergio Rebia received an Achievement Award for his overall body of work.
Real estate advisers and family members from Studley Inc.’s Irvine office joined the San Diego office in participating in the Armed Services YMCA’s 16th annual Mud Run at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. The event supports quality-of-life programs for active U.S. Marines, sailors and their families. Studley contributed $2,000 as a participant and sponsor of the event.
