GIVING

Compiled by Kelly Ryan

Employees from Orange-based Wilson Automotive Group, operator of Toyota of Orange and other dealerships, gave $176,400 to several local charities. The company has a 20-year tradition of gathering donations for nonprofits instead of buying gifts for Chief Executive David Wilson. Recipients were Orangewood Children’s Foundation, Olive Crest, YMCA, United Cerebral Palsy and the American Cancer Society.

Athletes and their wives raised $40,000 for the Child Abuse Prevention Center at the Athletes and Aces Casino Night. The Anaheim Ducks’ Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Teemu Selanne and former Anaheim Angels Darin Erstad and Adam Kennedy attended. The Ducks, Honda Center and law firm Shulman Hodges & Bastian LLP sponsored the event. Hanna’s Restaurant in Rancho Santa Margarita catered.

Saint Joseph Ballet, a Santa Ana nonprofit that provides dance, academic and family programs to needy children, gave $300,000 worth of school and office supplies to Santa Ana schools. Saint Joseph received the supplies from Office Solutions in Yorba Linda. Donated items include art supplies, composition notebooks, pencil cases and binders.

The Young Presidents Organization gave $25,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County at the nonprofit’s annual gourmet dinner fundraising event.
