GIVING

Buena Park High School seniors Christina Avalos and Heather Valenova Dayag were knighted by King Don Alfonso and Princess Esperanza of the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. The “Knights of the Pen and Sword” award was created to honor students that displayed knightly virtues of personal bravery, selfless service and honor. Each student received a $1,000 check for college, two tickets to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, a personalized scholarship scroll and a miniature knight statue.

More than 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to local children at the Share Our Selves 12th Annual Back to School Day in Costa Mesa. Share Our Selves is a local nonprofit serving the impoverished in OC. All services are free including medical and dental care, counseling and other services.
