Garrett Anderson Does PR, Too; Henry’s Media Mob

Anaheim sports figure Garrett Anderson dropped in on EE RR the other day. No, not the Angels star, but pretty close. The other Garrett Anderson is spokesman for the new Anaheim Arsenal, the NBA Developmental League franchise whose investment group is headed by local businesspeople Tom and Louise Jones. And last year PR Anderson was on the Angels, as the team’s full-time media intern. He became acquainted with ballplayer Anderson, who also happens to attend the same church, Kindred Community in Anaheim Hills. Angels Manager Mike Scioscia dubbed PR Anderson “GA No. 2.” Fans sometimes phoned him by mistake. When his parents mailed him a gift of coffee, it wound up at ballplayer Anderson’s locker. Not a coffee drinker and unaware of the source, GA No. 1 chucked it: “I told him, ‘Come on, man, there are two of us now!'” The Arsenal opens its 48-game season Nov. 24 at Honda Center (nee Pond). Minority owner Roy Englebrecht’s brainchild: Courtside suites priced from $50,000 to $75,000 for the season. Food, beverages and sponsorship recognition are included, and GA No. 2 says he’ll throw in his autograph …

It wasn’t just OC and L.A. reporters swarming around the new Ren & #233;e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at the OC Performing Arts Center.
