A unit of Aliso Viejo-based Fluor Corp. has started work on a high-speed rail project in the Netherlands.
Fluor Infrastructure BV is working on the first phase of the Dutch High Speed Rail Project, a public-private project. Fluor’s contract is valued at $85 million.
The company is part of a consortium set to design, build, finance and maintain the HSL-Zuid high-speed rail line between Amsterdam and the Belgian border.
Fluor Infrastructure expects to book an additional $35 million in 2006 for the 25-year maintenance contract.
Fluor holds an 11% ownership interest in the consortium. Other consortium members include Siemens AG, Royal BAM NBM NV, Charterhouse Project Equity Investments Ltd. and Innisfree Ltd. Fluor is program manager for the design, build and operations portions of the project.
