Santa Ana-based First American Corp. didn’t have to go far for its latest buy, about a quarter mile up the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway.
First American, which provides title insurance and other services, bought Experian Real Estate Services from Experian Information Solutions Inc., a Costa Mesa-based unit of Britain’s GUS PLC.
Terms of the deal, which closed March 30, weren’t disclosed.
First American’s headquarters is just over the city line in Santa Ana from Experian’s base in Costa Mesa.
The Experian unit bought by First American is based in suburban Philadelphia. Experian Real Estate Services provides credit reports, home mortgage credit reports, property and tax reports, flood determinations, appraisal services and tax return verification.
The unit had worked with First American prior to the sale, according to Chris Callero, chief executive of Experian North America.
