Lake Forest-based Western Digital Corp. raised its revenue target for the quarter ending Dec. 31 on higher than expected sales to computer makers. The disk drive maker now expects revenue of $885 million to $915 million in the period, up about 6% from a prior forecast … Cypress-based PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. said it plans to buy the 140,000-member preferred provider organization health insurance business of Newport Beach-based Pacific Life Insurance Co. Scientific-Atlanta Inc. ordered an undisclosed number of chips from Irvine-based Broadcom Corp. Scientific-Atlanta plans to use the chips for its voice-over-Internet phone adapters. Meanwhile, a judge froze the assets of MagiComm Technology Inc. and its founder, Leo Li, after Broadcom filed a suit claiming at least seven former and current workers conspired to steal wireless phone chip designs for the startup. The judge said Broadcom had compelling evidence that Li and MagiComm workers took secrets from the chipmaker … Microsoft Corp. sued San Clemente computer reseller Monarch Technology Inc. for allegedly giving customers fake authenticity certificates with some Microsoft software.

Irvine-based Allergan Inc. said state and federal public health officials were investigating whether four patients at Advanced Integrated Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., are suffering from botulism. The company said it didn’t believe the source of the illness was the company’s Botox treatment. Allergan said investigators are focusing on inappropriate and unlicensed practices at the facility … Lake Forest-based I-Flow Corp. said health insurer Aetna Inc. agreed to cover I-Flow’s InfuSystem cancer therapy … San Juan Capistrano-based ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc. said its Irvine laboratory earned a state license to start conducting cancer tests.

Eight people, including former Hun-tington Beach Councilwoman Pam

Julien Houchen, were indicted on charges linked to the illegal conversion of apartments to condominiums. Houchen was charged with 11 counts of mail fraud and seven counts of wire fraud. Meanwhile, the city approved permits for a quarter of some 120 apartments that were illegally converted into condominiums. The other 65 homeowners can apply for permits. Five title insurance companies are paying for the permits … Lake Forest officials said they’re negotiating with six owners of buffer zone land adjacent to El Toro Marine base to build up to 5,700 homes, condominiums and apartments … The California Department of Corporations officially revoked the lending license of former Irvine-based mortgage lender Instafi.com, which folded a year ago. Instafi founder Sean Roberts filed for personal bankruptcy earlier this year … Santa Ana-based First American Corp. said it invested $1 million in RE3W World Wide Ltd., also of Santa Ana. RE3W makes software for commercial real estate deals … Windstar Communities LLC, the residential arm of San Diego’s Nexus Properties Inc., broke ground on Stadium Lofts, a development in Anaheim’s Platinum Triangle that calls for 390 apartments and 11,000 square feet of restaurants and shops on a six-acre site at State College Boulevard and Katella Avenue. The complex is set to finish in 2006.

First Vietnamese American Bank started selling 1.1 million shares of stock in an $11 million offering to fund its startup costs. First Vietnamese plans to open early next year in Westminster.

John Wayne Airport reported 788,897 passengers in October, up 3.8% versus a

year earlier. Commercial flights rose 3% to 7,624.

New York private equity firm Harvest Partners Inc. bought Chatsworth-based Levlad Inc., parent of Irvine skin care products distributor Arbonne International Inc., for undisclosed terms … Costa Mesa-based Ceradyne Inc. said the military ordered $6.4 million of body armor to be shipped in the first three quarters of 2005 … Anaheim-based Carl’s Jr., part of Carpinteria-based CKE Restaurants Inc., said it plans to open the first of 25 restaurants in Singapore and Malaysia next year … Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. posted a 19.5% in same-store sales in November, versus a year earlier.

The struggling teen retailer also said its operating loss in the third quarter more than doubled to $24.7 million, versus a year earlier, on a 16% sales decline to $110.8 million … Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. said its November same-store sales rose 2.7%, compared to a year ago … Aliso Viejo-based RemedyTemp Inc. boosted its lending line with Bank of America Corp. to $50 million from $40 million. The move is ex-pected to free $16 million that the temp staffing company plans to

use for corporate purposes. Meanwhile, RemedyTemp said its third-quarter loss narrowed to $5.2 million, versus $11.6 million a year earlier, on an 18% rise in revenue to $149.3 million … Montreal’s Hockey Co. signed a pact to sell exclusively hockey masks made by Foothill Ranch-based Oakley Inc. Hockey Co., whose brands include CCM, Jofa and Koho, is owned by Reebok International Ltd. The company agreed to stop selling its Jofa masks, which were the target of an Oakley patent infringement suit, as part of the sales pact.
