BARBIE ACTION NEWS REPORTER
Read-and-sound children’s book by Publications International Ltd. About $10.
My editor thought it would be a hoot for me, being a blonde just like Barbie, to review this book. Ha ha. Press a button and Barbie’s little sister Skipper chirps, “It’s fun to be a reporter.” She never worked for my editor. Barbie and Ken take off (push a button for screeching tires) with their action cam (it makes noises, too) to dog rescues, to ribbon cuttings, even to a horse show! (The horse neighs.) Barbie covers mundane stories at a super-human pace, anchors the show and wins awards. Whew. Well, gotta go. As Barbie’s producer says, “A story is breaking.”

WINTER CD REVIEW
“MTV: The First 1000 Years” (Rhino Records): Released just in time for that New Year’s Eve Party you’re gonna throw. This four-CD release covers the musical styles of rock, new wave, R & B; and hip-hop. There is a huge load of music here, a little something for everyone. And, with 64 total tracks, there’s a pretty good choice of artists selected per style.
“Live at Sturgis” 38 Special (CMC International): The new disc was recorded in South Dakota at the ’99 Sturgis bike rally. This is one of those bands whose song titles you might not know, but you’ve definitely heard on the radio. Hits included are: “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up In You,” “If I’d Been The One” and “Rockin’ Into The Night.”
“Anthology – Hey Ho Let’s Go!” The Ramones (Rhino Records): A two-disc collection that spans the beginning to the successful and bitter end. A four-color book that accompanies the CD includes photographs and interesting tidbits covering the Ramones’ career.
“Brave New World” Styx (CMC International): Finally, new music from these guys, with all the original members. Doesn’t quite have the hit potential of some previous albums, but still has that Styx magic.
