More than 700 lawyers, judges and philanthropists gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine for the Public Law Center’s 2008 annual Volunteers for Justice dinner earlier this month.
The Santa Ana-based nonprofit hosts an awards dinner annually to honor lawyers, judges and others who give time to help the law center provide legal help to the poor.
Those honored for their volunteer work this year include the Costa Mesa office of Latham & Watkins LLP, Abigail W. Lloyd of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP in Costa Mesa and Santa Ana’s Community Service Programs Inc.
The law center offers free civil legal services such as counseling, individual representation, community education, litigation and advocacy to challenge social injustices.
