Drug Distributor Moving From Irvine to Lake Forest;
Laguna’s Surf & Sand Opens Spa
Southwood Pharmaceuticals Inc., a low-profile packager and distributor of pharmaceutical products, is planning to move from the Irvine Spectrum to Lake Forest.
Southwood is moving to a 21,100-square-foot facility at 60 Empire in Lake Forest, according to real estate sources. The company plans to relocate in February, telling real estate sources that it needs more space to accommodate growth. Company officials didn’t return phone calls for comment late last week.
Lee & Associates’ Irvine Spectrum office represented both Southwood and the landlord, Olen Properties.

The Surf & Sand Resort Hotel in Laguna Beach, owned by JC Resorts of La Jolla, opened its new spa, Aquaterra, in mid-November.
Management at Aquaterra is targeting the local market with enticements like an ocean-view couples’ ritual room, luncheon and spa packages and bridal packages. A fitness center and nail salon still are in the works and are set to open early in 2002.
Aquaterra offers aromatherapy with massages and plans to offer hot stone massage. The hotel, which sits on a stretch of oceanfront property, plans to add yoga and massage therapy on the beach in the future.
The Surf & Sand ranks No. 32 on the Orange County Business Journal list of hotel meeting facilities, with 8,787 square feet of meeting space. It also has 165 rooms and suites, many of them opening on the beach.
