Orange County lost workers for the first time in six months, according to a report from the state Employment Development Department on Friday.
In the past month, the county recorded a decline of 1,200 jobs for a total nonfarm payroll of 1,488,900. OC has added 24,900 jobs in the past year.
The decline was blamed on a seasonal loss of government jobs, according to the Employment Development Department.
The department said OC’s unemployment rate was 3.9% in July, stable from the revised rate for June and below 4.6% a year ago.
California’s unemployment rate was 5.4% in July, with the U.S. posting a 5.2% rate.
