Cooper Cos., a Lake Forest maker of contact lenses, got hit with a lawsuit after saying it plans to restate results last month.
Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman LLP, the former firm of San Diego-based class action kingpin William Lerach, said Thursday it is suing the maker of contact lenses and women’s surgical equipment.
The lawsuit is pretty standard stuff: It alleges that Cooper, Chief Executive A. Thomas Bender and two other officials misled shareholders about Cooper’s buy of rival Ocular Sciences Inc., which closed a year ago.
Cooper said last month it plans to restate results for the fourth quarter of 2004 and the first half of 2005. At issue is accounting related to the Ocular buy, according to Cooper.
