Beckman in $30M Deal With Quest Diagnostics
Beckman Coulter Inc., the Fullerton-based medical diagnostics company, signed a five-year, $30 million supply agreement with Quest Diagnostics Inc., a Teterboro, N.J. based provider of diagnostic testing, information and services. Quest has annualized revenue of more than $3 billion; the company’s testing helps doctors diagnose, treat and monitor disease, enables employers to detect workplace drug abuse and supports clinical trials of new therapeutics.
Beckman is the sole-source provider of hematology instrument systems and related reagents for Quest’s United States laboratory network under the contract. Beckman also has separate deals with Quest covering other biomedical instrument systems and supplies.
Raymond Clarke, Quest’s vice president of materials and systems management, said in a release that the contract with Beckman supports Quest’s standardization and integration efforts. Those efforts include integrating former facilities of SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories Inc., which Quest bought in August 1999.
