Beckman: Agencourt Deal Worth $50M

The $120 million sale of Beverly, Mass.-based Agencourt Personal Genomics Inc. is worth about $50 million for Fullerton’s Beckman Coulter Inc.

Foster City-based Applera Corp.’s Applied Biosystems Group unit is buying Agencourt Personal Genomics, a maker of products for genetic analysis.

Beckman Coulter owns 49% of Agencourt Personal Genomics after buying its parent company, Agencourt Bioscience Corp., in 2005.

At the time of the buy, Agencourt Personal Genomics was set up as a private company with managers and other shareholders owning 51% of the company.

The sale is expected to close in the third quarter.

Earlier this year, Beckman settled a breach of contract lawsuit with Applera.
