Irvine’s Autobytel Inc., which generates online leads for auto dealers, has sold a unit to Southfield, Mich.-based R.L. Polk & Co., the companies said Thursday.
Terms weren’t disclosed.
Autobytel sold its Automotive Information Center unit, a data service automakers use on their Web sites and in product development and marketing.
The company plans to license data from Automotive Information Center for use on Autobytel.com or other company Web sites,
In November, Autobytel said it was looking at options for its Automotive Information Center as well as another unit, RPM.
RPM, short for retention performance marketing, is a service for dealerships that reminds customers about maintenance. Autobytel hasn’t announced any new plans for RPM.
