AROUND THE COUNTY

Compiled by Kelly Ryan

YORBA LINDA

Construction is ramping up at a surgical center on Yorba Linda Boulevard a few miles from the Orange (57) Freeway. Congero Development LLC is building the Renaissance Surgical Center. The center plans to offer multiple outpatient services including cosmetic, orthopedic and spinal surgeries. The building will be 13,000 square feet with four operating rooms. Crews started work in July and hope to finish the building in early spring. The architect is Anthony C. Pings and Associates. Congero Development is in Laguna Niguel and specializes in licensed and accredited healthcare facilities. It is nearly finished building a 21,000-square-foot surgical facility in Costa Mesa. Renaissance Surgery Arts Management has pledged to support the charitable efforts of its surgeons, including efforts for the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation and La Casa de mi Padre, an orphanage in El Salvador.

HUNTINGTON BEACH

Builders soon will complete a synagogue at Warner Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street. Congregation Adat Israel of Huntington Beach originally bought the site in 1990 for Chabad of West Orange County. At the time it was a 1,000-square-foot office building. In 2000, the first phase of construction was finished, creating a large multipurpose room with a kitchen, bathroom and two offices. The next phase of building now is being finished, after a $1.25 million fundraising campaign. This phase will add a sanctuary to the property, bringing the total size of the facility to 5,000 square feet. Ruedor Gratch is the project manager. Dragon Construction Inc. is the general contractor.

Construction is wrapping up on a restaurant on Beach Boulevard near the San Diego (I-405) Freeway. Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. will lease the space, bringing its Orange County restaurant tally to 17. Crews began work in July and expect to be finished in November. The company’s average cost of building a restaurant is about $900,000. According to Chipotle officials, another restaurant is in the mix for Santa Ana.

TUSTIN

The county of Orange has begun building a four-acre social services campus near Red Hill and Valencia avenues. Plans for the Tustin Family Campus include two specialized group homes, two sibling homes, a home for mothers attending dependency drug court and their children and an emancipation unit. There also will be administration and maintenance buildings and landscaped grounds with children’s play areas. The property was formerly part of the Tustin Marine base, now being redeveloped as Tustin Legacy, a masterplanned housing and commercial development. The campus will be 61,613 square feet and will offer 107 parking spaces. Plans were approved last year and a construction contract of $21 million was awarded earlier this year. Various providers will be contracted by the Social Services Agency to run programs at the facility. The surrounding area is occupied by the Advanced Technology & Education Park, an education campus serving Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges. The Orange County Rescue Mission recently opened its Village of Hope across the street.

IRVINE

An industrial condominium building with office space soon will be completed on Von Karman Avenue near Main Street. The Irvine Commerce Center is about 95,000 square feet and is being marketed by CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. There are five office condos facing Von Karman and 16 industrial condos in the rear of the building. Construction crews now are finishing landscaping and parking lots surrounding the building. It should be finished in October. The Advent Group Inc. in Corona del Mar is the project’s developer. M.A. Nourse Inc. is handling construction.
