ANAHEIM
Sares-Regis Group of Irvine is breaking ground this fall on three industrial buildings totaling 120,000 square feet. The buildings are registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and will be the first speculative green industrial buildings in Orange County, according to the developer. The buildings are in the Canyon District, near Miraloma Avenue and Miller Street. The project will consist of one 60,000-square-foot building and two 30,000-square-foot buildings with 2,000 square feet of mezzanine and improved office space. The larger building will have a private truck court with six docks and one grade-level door. The smaller buildings will have three truck bays for unloading and will share a secured truck court.
FULLERTON
According to California State University, Fullerton’s Daily Titan newspaper, the school is building its fourth parking structure, this one off of Nutwood Avenue and Folino Drive, north of the Fullerton Marriott. Construction began in May and is expected to be complete in fall 2010. The six-level structure will add 1,500 spaces to the 9,752 the school currently has. The structure will cost an estimated $24.2 million to complete. It is financed through bonds and will be paid for with parking fees. The contractor is Bomel Construction Co. in Anaheim. The structure was designed by Sherman Oaks-based International Parking Design Inc. architect Don Marks.
IRVINE
A six building, three-story apartment complex near Sand Canyon Avenue and Trabuco Road is in development. Woodbury Arbor Apart-ments is being built as low-income housing. Its amenities include a salt water pool, barbecues and a computer and tutoring room. The project includes some environmentally friendly features. The project is due to be complete in November. Irvine-based JHC Woodbury LP is the developer. KTGY Group Inc. in Irvine is the architect and the contractor is San Diego-based Wermers General Contractors.
SANTA ANA
The city has chosen two developers to redevelop a series of mostly empty lots dubbed The Station, which is near the Santa Ana train station and along Santa Ana Boulevard. The developers are Related California, part of New York-based Related Cos., and Griffin Realty Corp. of Laguna Beach. Shaheen Sadeghi, developer of The Lab and The Camp in Costa Mesa, also will be involved, according to city documents. The city wants to build housing, including affordable housing, retail space, restaurants and mixed-use buildings. Santa Ana acquired the numerous parcels that make up The Station during the past 10 years or so, as it hoped to one day redevelop the space. It wants to make The Station a major transportation hub for the planned Go Local street car system.
