AROUND THE COUNTY

Compiled by Johanne Chou and Andrea Rangno

LAGUNA NIGUEL

The city is building a 40,000-square-foot city hall at Alicia Parkway and Crown Valley Parkway. The $25 million project is funded through budget surpluses and reserves. The city bought the land in 2008 for $4 million. City Hall now operates out of an office building that has been rented since 1989. The project is set to be done in late 2010. Pasadena-based construction management firm C.W. Driver and Irvine-based LPA Architects are working on the project.

SAN CLEMENTE

A 16,000-square-foot fire station and senior center is in the works off El Camino Real and Avenida Victoria. The project is set to replace an existing fire station on the beach side of the San Diego (I-5) Freeway. The senior center, now in a section of a library building, has outgrown that space. The project is expected to be done in 14 months. IBI Group in Irvine is the architect. Montclair-based Gamut Construc-tion Co. is the contractor.

TUSTIN

The city is adding a $4.4 million park on 17 acres on Portola Parkway between Jamboree and Tustin Ranch roads. Citrus Ranch Park is set to have three sections. An area near Jamboree Road will have a picnic shelter, restrooms and a themed children’s play-ground. On the other side, near Tustin Ranch Road, a meadow for picnicking is being created. The last section of the park is set to feature about 1,000 lemon trees and a 235-foot lookout for views of the city. The park is set to be done early 2010. The construction management company is Anaheim-based Willdan Group Inc. The landscape is Calabasas-based ValleyCrest Landscape Cos.
