Apparel Retailers Have Weak Oct. Sales

Specialty apparel retailers, including Gap Inc. and Chico’s FAS Inc., posted surprisingly weak October sales on Thursday as a lack of fresh merchandise kept consumers from buying after they loaded up on fall fashions in September.
