DeskSite, an Irvine-based digital media company that develops app-based video entertainment portals, is thinking bigger than a smartphone with a deal it recently signed with the LA Galaxy soccer team.
The company has designed a “big-screen app” for desktop computers, laptops, tablets, game consoles and smart TVs. It downloads high-definition videos directly to users’ devices, allowing instantaneous playback without the buffering or freezing associated with streaming video.
“The Galaxy DeskSite offers fans everything they want, and equally important, nothing they don’t,” Richard Gillam, the company’s founder and chief executive, said in a news release. “With this new platform, we’ve made some exciting leaps forward in the evolution of digital media, most notably in the twin pillars of content curation and content access. If you’re a serious Galaxy fan, this is a ‘must have’ experience.”
Numerous NFL teams have also adopted the technology, including the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and New England Patriots.
DeskSite’s corporate parent is QDOS Inc. in Aliso Viejo.
