The Irvine-based Orange County Visitors Association said it got $5 million worth of media exposure for Orange County in 12 Middle Eastern countries through a recent contest for viewers of TV show “The Voice.”
OCVA President and Chief Executive Ed Fuller said nearly 2,700, 60-second promotional spots for Orange County as a destination ran over a four-week period on a media network there called OSN. The campaign yielded an estimated $5.1 million worth of media exposure, according to OSN.
“It’s an awareness campaign,” Fuller said. “The winner gets to come to Orange County.”
The Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, the South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island shopping centers, Newport Harbor Cruises, and the Disneyland Resort each contributed to a prize package. Viewers of the show had to enter the contest to win the prizes.
Fuller said the contest concluded in November and the association plans to repeat the effort next year.
