By the Numbers – WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES

There are more than 17,000 women-owned businesses in Orange County. Nearly 70% of them employ one to four workers. About 5% employ 20 to 49 people. Four have 500 or more employees. There are more than 4,500 women-owned businesses in the services sector.

Retail trade has nearly 3,600. The construction industry in OC has more than 350. 23% of OC’s 73,000 locally owned businesses are women-owned. 17% of all OC employees work for women owned firms. (see Special Report, page 21).
